In 1957, the same wheelbase and engine were retained, but horsepower was up to 300.
The design was modified primarily by the addition of large canted tail fins and a vertical mounting of the headlights, the top two of which were normal headlights, and the bottom two of which were road lamps.
Compression ratio was increased to 10, and a more efficient carburetor, reshaped pistons and combustion chamber, smaller diameter steel torque converter, were other modifications. A spin-on oil filter system was offered for the first time.
A new model, the Landau, a four-door hardtop, was introduced, and both the Premiere and Capri series contained the Landau, a two-door hardtop, and a four-door sedan.
A convertible was offered in the Premiere series only. A total of 41,123 units were produced, and the Premiere Landau surged almost to the top of the production figures with a run of 11,223 units, surpassed only by the Premiere two-door hardtop, with a production run of 15,185 units. The convertible weighed 4,676 pounds and sold for $5,381.00.
