A total of 36,993 units were produced and the Capri two-door hardtop was again the leader, edging the Capri sedan by 405 units, for a production figure of 14,003 units. The convertible weighed 4,310 pounds and sold for $4,031.00. Brakes were increased in diameter to 12 inches, providing 10% greater braking area.
Primary mechanical refinements included larger diaphragm vacuum distributor control, new vacuum control for the carburetor, redesigned hydraulic tappets, new filter element in the fuel pump, and a self-cleaning filter in the fuel tank.
