In 1953, Lincoln maintained the same body style and lineup but a four-barrel carburetor was added, and horsepower was rated at 205, the increase due mainly to refinements such as the carburetor, larger intake manifold runners, larger intake valve diameters, higher intake valve lift, higher compression ratio (8.0 to 1) and increased engine vacuum.
Hydramatic was standard, and factory air conditioning became available with the evaporator and blower in the trunk. Also available for the first time were power steering and power brakes. Price of the convertible was $3,699.00, while the weight remained unchanged.
A total of 40,762 units were produced, and the Capri two-door hardtop was the production leader, with a total of 12,916 units.
